When you think about the most beneficial reasons to lose weight, what are they?  I have compiled a list of 5 seperate benefits to losing weight. Since you probably have already heard longer life was a benefit, I won’t cover that reason.So what are some little known benefits to weight loss?

Reduce or Eliminate Sleep Apnea

As you might notice, your face and body appear to get fat and skinny at the same time.Your throat is no exception.  By losing weight you can effectively reduce or eliminate sleep apnea entirely.  This is important, since sleep apnea causes you to stop breathing temporarily while asleep.  This is known to cause sleepiness during the day, and cause heart faliure.  All great reasons to get to a healthy weight.

Reduce Your Risk to Cancer

Being overweight is linked to a number of different types of cancer…especially, in women. These include cancer of the uterus, gallbladder, breast, ovary, and colon. Men are at higher risk for cancers of the colon, prostate, and rectum.  Now that you know, you can take the appropriate steps to eliminating high fat foods from your diet. Reduce Pain and Damage to Joints

If you have been suffering from bad joints, osteoarthritis, or a bad back, this could be your saving grace.When you are heavy, your joints have to exert double or even triple. They won’t last long like that.  Get some exercise to make sure you aren’t crippled when you retire.  Just make sure to take it easy in they gym and focus on fat burning type exercises to reduce weight safely. These could include walking, elliptical machines, stairmasters, swimming, or jogging (just be careful when starting out). Remember fitness is a lifelong journey, not a destination.  Make small changes to your daily routine so that you fit exercise into it daily. This will yield you the best results in the shortest time.
